Many store-bought jams contain quite a lot of added sugar. Here's an easy recipe to make your own jam so you can be in control of how much sweetener you add. You can also swap strawberries for any other type of berry.
You'll Need:
1 cup chopped strawberries (fresh or frozen)
2 tablespoons water
½ tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
Method:
Heat berries and water in a pot over low heat for 15 minutes, until berries are soft and water has reduced.
Mash berries slightly (depending on how chunky you prefer your jam), then add chia seeds and honey.
Heat jam for a further 2-3 minutes while stirring.
Transfer to a clean jar and store in the fridge for up to a week.
Makes around 1 cup
